I'm pretty young too, and it's been 3 years since my mother died. I think on an average day over time it does get easier, but there will be triggers that will start crying spells. For me, triggers have been holidays (because my mom made them so amazing with food and decorations and presents), things we enjoyed together (such as movies, music, or hobbies), and any commercials, TV shows, or movies that show a bond between a mother and daughter (especially wedding ones), those just bring me to tears. But what is important to remember is that everyone grieves differently, and that's perfectly ok. You're not wrong for grieving still, and to be honest most women I've talked to who have lost a mother grieve that loss for the rest of their lives, it just becomes less visible to others over time. I know I'll grieve for her until the day I die, and I find that perfectly acceptable because no one can replace a mother. What's important is to remember joy in your grief, find happiness in your life (your mother would want you to live a full and happy life after all), and share your feelings with someone who will listen and not be judgmental whenever you need to vent. "Moving on" doesn't mean you have to stop crying or forget about your mother!

I lost my mother 10 months ago. I'm only 22 and my mom was 46. She died very slowly from a terminal illness. I'm basically all alone. The rest of my family has pretty much moved on and forgot about me. They tell me I need to get over it, but it feels like it just happened. Does this ever get any easier?
