How To Get Through What You're Going Through

For over 20 years, I have been blessed to be a member of Saddleback Church.  Many of you may have heard of my pastor, Rick Warren; author of the infamous book, The Purpose Driven Life.  You may have also heard that he and his wife Kay lost their son Matthew a few months ago; he took his life after a longtime struggle with mental illness.

Rick and Kay grieved like any parent who has lost a child, but on an international scale.  I knew they would eventually use their pain and grief for good.  Over the years, Rick has often said that 'God doesn't ever waste a hurt.'

After taking 4 months off from the church, this is their highly anticipated first sermon back.  This is the first part in a 6 part series titled, How We're Getting Through.  Stay tuned for more.  This is a powerful message and I know it will provide a lot of help in your grief recovery.

Hello Judy Davidson,I am a preachers kid.  Ive been aquainted with loss due to the death of my parents. . My parents were the pastor's of our small christian church.  Dad passed away February 15, 2008.

First my dad collasped while preaching one sunday morning,shortly followed by suddenly passing during  emergency heart surgery.

Second, my mother passed was January 11, 2013 in home hospice care from cancer.

Last, I've lost my place in the church now that they are gone. I grieve the lost of parents, pastors and church fellowship.  It adds another level to my grief due to the fact that my parents where the founders of our church.

My parents, founded and labored in that church for 50 years.  To add insult to injury, the new pastor and his family has removed me as if my parents didnt ever exsist and that compounds my grief because my entire foundations has been removed.

I joined this network because of the hope it offers.

I just want to say thanks a million for uploading the video link entitled "how we're getting through" because it has truly blessed me during my grief journey.

I replay their messages daily now because they give me hope that I can make it through this trying time. If Pastor Rick and Kay can make it through this so can I. Once again Thank  you, for founding this network and for uploading those powerful messages.
