Help for today & Hope for tomorrow

Lost my mother to cancer battling the loss of all my family

I'm 34 years old. When I was 7, I was in a shooting where my baby sister who was 6 died in my lap. That was 26 years ago. Monday would have been her 33 birthday. But this year I lost my dad in August 2015 and my mother in Jan 2016 is the loneliness ever. All my immediate family has passed awAw and I feel so alone. The nights are the hardest the days are endless it seems. My mother spent most of her life in prison for revenge on the lady who shot nd killed my sister and had only gotten released 2007. Our relationship was rocky, but we did make peace before she died. It still hurts everyday. I feel like I'm standing still and time is passing me by.

Earlena,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of both your parents and that you're feeling all alone.  Do you think it's possible for you to still love and miss them and take a baby step everyday to find a wee bit of joy?  Just give it some thought.  Communication is key to grief recovery so you're doing a great thing in reaching out.  Please keep on talking and sharing what you are going through.  We have all been in your shoes.  My husband died suddenly in 2004 when our son was 4 years old; that was the inspiration for me starting this site.  My mom went to heaven last year.

Reach out to other members through the Network, Member Blogs and Forum Chats.  The chat room tends to have more people in it at night.  The Home Page has some good Blog Posts too.  I pray the resources here provide Help for Today & Hope for Tomorrow.  You take good care of yourself.

God bless,

Judy
