Help for today & Hope for tomorrow

My husband has been gone for 3 years, I am 54 years old and recently met a wonderful man. My grown children have been very supportive except my daughter who has said some very hurtful things and disrespectful. How do I deal with my insecurities and her.

Hi Laurene,

Thank you for sharing your feelings.  Moving on and change is hard for everyone.  How old is your daughter?  My son was 4 when my husband died 10 years ago.  He wanted a new daddy right away.  I didn't date for the first 2 years and slowly dipped my toe in the online dating pool and met some nice men and a lot of flakey divorced guys.  If you have found a wonderful man - that's GREAT!  I'm so happy for you - you deserve it.  Give your daughter time.  If he's a really great guy, she wil realize it and I'm sure she'll come around.  There is no excuse for her to be disrespectful to you, just remember she is hurting too.  Love makes everything in life a lot better.  Perhaps this site might help her too?

I wish you all the best in your new relationship :)

Big hug,

Thank you Judy, Katrina is 26 and married. I just don't quite understand why she can't see me happy.

Such problems in the family are very common. Of course, in your case, this is an absolute manifestation of disrespect on the part of your daughter, and if after the conversation she does not understand, then she just needs to make it clear that this is not her business. Recently, my friend also met with hot russian women and he began to have similar problems in the family due to misunderstandings on the part of relatives, but in the end this is his personal life.
