Help for today & Hope for tomorrow

I lost my dad a month ago- he was 88- and right now I'm just extremely sad and I'm going through this phase where I'm trying to be strong for everybody else. I also haven't cried since his funeral and the day of his death. I'm just confused on what's going on with me emotionally. Can someone explain this stage? How does a 15 year old deal with the death of a parent?

Hi Charlie,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings.  You can Google the stages of grief, but they are just a guideline.  Everyone deals with grief in their own way based on their unique situation.  Sometimes it's one step foreward and 2 steps back.  Being strong for everyone else could be your way of coping, but also preventing you from feeling and healing.  At any age, communication is key to grief recovery.  So you're doing a great thing by coming here and sharing what's going on with you.  www.GriefShare.org lists local grief groups to join.  I hope the blogs on the Home page are helpful as well as other members posts and the chatroom.  I pray this site provides you Help for Today & Hope for Tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Judy
